Kitten

Could you leave an injured kitten alone in the woods? Apperantly V and I cannot. Today we went collecting in Delaware to try once again to find me fish for some research. As we are driving on the dirt road to the impoundment where the fish are*, we see a little kitten in the middle of the road. We pull over and it runs off the road, but just far enough to meow at us a ton. V notices it has a flea collar stuck around its neck and legs. He cuts it off of the little girl and we see that she has been out in the wild for a while, the collar leaves some pretty bad looking cuts and sores. Luckily she is walking ok and followed us all around the field site. She even guarded the car when we were in the water. Too cute! Well, we brought her home and agonized about what to do with her (after agonizing over bringing her with us in the first place). We took her to the vet this morning and after tests showed that she has none of the big bad kitty diseases- just a few been out in the woods diseases- we got shots and meds and one of those funny collars to keep her from licking her cuts (which weren't so bad to need stiches or anything either). She will reside in the basement until she is well enough to introduce to Seymour and Cal and then we will see if she can stay with us for good. V went to NYC today but we will do a photoshoot with the little lady tomorrow!

Whew! Between V's car breaking down on Saturday, this new aquisition, ArtGirl visiting Philly for work this week (yippee!), AND our final softball game tomorrow (with possible playoffs on Wednesday) it is QUITE a week!

*or where the fish AREN'T as it turns out.

It seems completely normal that you would go for fish and come home with a kitten.

You should totally keep her. I hope Seymour likes her.

KITTY! I also hope you get to keep her. She sounds like she needs a good home. :( The other day (when it was pouring out) I found a little stray kitten hiding in the wheel well of my car. I put out a dish of food for her, but she seemed to scared to eat it. Poor baby!

Also, Delaware! That's where I am from. Where did you go? What kind of fish do you study?
